Jennifer Budd

Vibrant felted paintings and brooches embellished with embroidery; Woolscapes printed velour pillows; Scottish shortbread and award-winning fudge

Jennifer Budd is a fibre artist living and working in Paris, Ontario, where you can find her making in her attic studio or finding inspiration in her backyard. Her practice draws on the ancient method of feltmaking to create vibrant landscapes of her native Scotland and her adopted Canadian home. Each landscape is wetfelted using merino wool. Jennifer then embellishes each work with needlefelting, freemotion machine embroidery and hand stitching. Engaging with such a tactile medium allows Jennifer to connect deeply with her work, forging a connection between the maker and the viewer. Jennifer has enjoyed sharing her skills as a workshop leader in the Shetland Islands, the Highlands of Scotland and in Ontario.
